Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network, fee-for-service therapist and do not accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. Session fees are due at the time of service. I can provide superbills for reimbursement depending on your plan. You can also use an HSA or FSA card.

Here is an article from Psychology Today about insurance coverage for therapy, if you would like to know more.

How does out-of-network therapy work?

If your insurance plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be able to request partial reimbursement directly from your insurer. I can provide a superbill upon request, which you submit to your insurance company.

Because coverage varies widely, I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand your benefits. You can also review my Payments & Fees page or How Out-of-Network Therapy Works page for more detailed information before scheduling.

What is a Superbill and how do I use it?
A superbill is a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I provide it upon request; you send it to your insurer.

Do you offer in-person sessions?
No. I offer secure virtual therapy for adults in VA, MD, and NC.

What kinds of clients do you work with?
I specialize in working with professionals struggling with body image, burnout, anxiety, eating concerns, and trauma. My approach is HAES-aligned, inclusive, and direct.

How long is each session?
Therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes unless otherwise discussed.

What if I’m not sure if therapy is right for me?
That’s okay. Feel free to reach out with your questions. I’m happy to help you figure it out, no pressure.

What is a Code of Ethics?
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I follow the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, along with the licensing laws and professional regulations in the states and compacts where I am authorized to practice, including Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland. The NASW Code of Ethics sets the standards for ethical therapy, client rights, confidentiality, informed consent, professional boundaries, and legal compliance. These guidelines are designed to protect clients, support ethical decision-making, and ensure high-quality, professional mental health care.
